Q: Why should I use Nutritional Therapy?

A: Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. It is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and well-being. Qualified Nutritional Therapists assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual's symptoms and health concerns. Nutritional therapists consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a 'one size fits all' approach.

Q: Why choose a BANT registered Nutritional Therapist?

A: Membership of BANT is regarded as an assurance to clients, the medical profession, other healthcare professionals and the general public, of the BANT practitioner’s professional competence and integrity.
BANT members are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Q: What is the 'Root Health' Plan?

A: Root Health Plan includes Initial one-to-one consultation and First follow-up session that will help you identify and address the root cause of your health issues as well as create a personalised food plan for you.

Q: What should I expect for the initial consultation and First Follow-up session?

A:  Initial consultation takes approx. 1 hour 15 minutes. The session begins with goal setting followed by an in-depth information gathering step based around client's health history, diet and lifestyle.

First follow-up session usually happens within the same week after the initial consultation. The session includes explanation of possible underlying causes of client's current health issues and negotiation of food plans. A summary report which includes personalised food plans, drug-nutrient interactions, recommended functional testing and dietary supplement plan will be sent via email within 3 working days after the consultation. (Please note the cost of supplements and functional tests are not included however we will assist you with the arrangement of ordering lab tests and supplements).

Q: Do I need to complete the health questionnaire prior to my initial consultation?

A: Yes.

Every one-to-one client will need to complete the health questionnaires and return to me at least 48 hours prior to initial consultation appointment. This will allow the practitioner to prepare for the consultation so that you will get the most from your session. Failure to return the questionnaire on time may result in session overrun charge at £45 per 30 minutes.

Q: Why do I need to give permission to contact my GP?

A: It is our policy with regard to client's safety that we want to work alongside your GP, especially if there are any redflag symptoms that need advice from a medical professional. In addition, I may write to your GP to request for certain laboratory tests that may be available through NHS.

Q: Will my health issues be resolved after completing a nutritional programme?

A: It is notable that nutrition is not a magic pill. Though we usually see clients make an improvement around 6-8 weeks depending on how well they have implemented the recommendations. Diet and lifestyle change is often a challenge and requires your commitment. We aim to help you develop a sustainable healthy diet and lifestyle that works for you. Our goal is to empower you to take control of your own health.

Q: Do I need to take the functional tests or nutritional supplements?

A: No.

The functional tests and supplements are recommended as part of good practice however you are under no obligation to take them. We aim to work primarily on changing your diet and lifestyle. However, please bear in mind that dietary supplements can be beneficial, especially when high levels of certain nutrients are needed to replenish the body that in some cases may be difficult to achieve using diet alone. Some supplements may also help the body absorb nutrients more efficiently. We recommend only high quality supplements from reputable companies. Supplements are usually recommended only for a short period (up to 12 weeks) and when considered necessary.

Functional testing is very important in order to provide a clearer understanding of an individual's current state of health to achieve the best possible targeted dietary intervention.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

A: We kindly ask that you inform us at least 24 hours in advance if you wish to cancel or change your appointment so that the slot can be available to other client. Otherwise we reserve the right to charge you a cancellation or rescheduling fee

Q: What is the 14-Day Nutritional Detox programme?

A: It is a nutritional support programme focusing on the liver health. The programme features a diet plan and a range of key supplements that have been shown to support the body detoxification systems and may help reduce toxic load. You will receive a comprehensive guide, suggested meal plan, recipes, shopping list and daily supporting emails. Please note supplements are not included in the price.

Q: What is Nutrigenomics and why might the DNA Health programme benefit me?

A: Nutrigenomics focuses on understanding the effects of foods and certain nutrients on gene expression. Nutrigenomics is highly personalised as it looks at your unique DNA data (genetic variants or SNPs) to build an ideal diet and lifestyle plan that is right for you to ensure proper function of all metabolic pathways, lower the risk for developing diseases and support peak performance. Your genes are not your destiny, meaning that genes are only part the whole picture; the rest lies in your diet and lifestyle choices. We therefore consider genetic testing in the context of functional testing to get a deep clinical insight of not only understanding how genetic variations affect an individual's risk of developing a disease but also how to support the individual to prevent disease.
