Service Description

This is a comprehensive thyroid test including full thyroid hormones and thyroid antibodies, i.e. thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3). FT3 is more biologically active than FT4. If you have a family history of thyroid disease (or any autoimmune condition) then checking your thyroid antibodies would be helpful. This test can tell you if your thyroid hormones are abnormal and whether this is caused by autoimmune disease (which is more likely if you have a family history). Even if your thyroid function is currently normal, elevated antibodies may increase your risk of developing a thyroid disorder in the future. This is the right test if you want a deeper look at your thyroid hormones.  This test also includes hs-CRP (inflammation marker) and some nutritional markers e.g. vitamin D, vitamin B12 and Iron (ferritin) that can support thyroid function or, if they are low, can mimic a thyroid disorder (e.g. fatigue and low energy, hair loss). This is the best test to take if you want to pursue several lines of investigation for your symptoms.  Phlebotomy service is available at extra cost for those unable to take finger-prick blood sample.
